Winter Whale Watching is a must in Puerto Vallarta

Whale watching in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
If you're in Vallarta in the Winter months, make time for whale watching!

Winter Months Bring World Class Whale Watching to Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is home to some of the world's most incredible wildlife, and whale watching is one of the most exciting experiences you can have here. Get up close and personal with majestic humpback whales, majestic blue whales, and other stunning species of cetaceans

The winter months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, bring a unique opportunity to witness one of nature’s most awe–inspiring spectacles: whale watching. From December to April, Puerto Vallarta is home to hundreds of humpback whales that migrate to the warm, calm waters of Banderas Bay to mate and give birth. Whale watching off the coast of Puerto Vallarta is an experience you won’t soon forget. During the winter months, you’ll have the chance to observe these majestic creatures up close as they breach, dive, and play in the waves. Aside from the Vallarta Botanical Gardens, this is one of our favorite tours in nature in all of Vallarta.

The best time to go whale watching is from January to March when the whales are most active. Banderas Bay is one of the top destinations for whales to mate and give birth. The warm, shallow waters provide the perfect environment for them to raise their young. The calm, protected waters also make it the ideal spot for whale-watching tours allowing spectators to remain at a safe distance while being treated to an amazing experience. There are many whale-watching tours but we prefer the tour offered by Gray Line Puerto Vallarta.

The winter months are also the best time to observe the social behavior of the whales. During this time, they’re most active and tend to travel in groups. Most tours even get a chance to witness the whales playing and breaching in the waves.

The waters off the coast of Puerto Vallarta are also home to many other species of marine life, including dolphins, sea turtles, and manta rays. So, if you’re lucky, you just might even get to see these animals while you’re out on your whale-watching expedition. Whale watching in Puerto Vallarta is an unforgettable experience. With the right timing, you can witness the incredible beauty and intelligence of these magnificent creatures. So, make sure you make the most of your winter months and join a whale-watching tour in Puerto Vallarta.
