Puerto Vallarta International Airport Breaks Arrivals Record In March 2022
More flights arrived at Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport in March of 2022 than any other month in recorded history. The daily record and increase from March of last year are also records that will be broken this month.
As people from all over the world slowly start to feel more and more comfortable with getting back to the airport and international travel, travel records have been shattered, and Puerto Vallarta is no exception. March has been the busiest on record for Puerto Vallarta’s international airport.
The Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) tracks Mexico’s air travel, passenger, and flight numbers. The first record to fall came on Saturday the 12th as Puerto Vallarta recorded more flight arrivals, both domestic and foreign, on that day than any other day prior. The number was 259 total flights. March will also break the record for most total arrival flights, with 2,381 total arrivals in a month. Of those, 2,381, 882 are domestic, and 1,499 will arrive internationally.
The last record to fall is a tad more expected as this month will set the record for the most significant increase in arrivals in a month from a year to year comparison. Of course, air travel was significantly down last year, but March of 2022 has seen a 43% increase in arrivals compared to March of 2021.
