Music & Street Art Will Highlight This Colorful Festival
Vallarta has seen a growth of graffiti and street art which has brought incredible color and character to downtown buildings and local businesses.
The 12th Annual Graffiti and Street Art Festival is set to take place this weekend in Puerto Vallarta. The Municipal Institute for Youth Services (IMAJ) coordinator, Bryan Rodríguez Bernal, provided some insight into the details and plans for the 12th version of the festival. 35 artists comprised of local men and women from 14 – 37 will feature their street art and graffiti work. The festival will occur in El Cora Park, located on Paseo del Marlín between the Las Gaviotas subdivision and the Los Delfines neighborhood, from 11am to 10pm.
Graffiti and Street art has left an indelible mark on the streets of Vallarta in the last few years. From the start of Oldtown, all around the Malecon and in the Romantic Zone and 5th de Diciembre neighborhoods, beautifully building-sized masterpieces can be seen all over. Walking tours bringing tourists to the beautiful murals have really taken off in the last few years. Locals and visitors are encouraged to visit this 12th annual Street Art & Graffiti fest. There will also be live music and food vendors at the festival.
“We, as the Municipal Institute for Youth Care, have a duty to support young people who enjoy this type of art and activities, to showcase the local talents. Through their creativity, their strokes, colors and drawings, they share their visions and messages to society in public spaces.”
Bryan Rodríguez Bernal - Youth Services Coordinator
