The monumental figure is set to highlight Puerto Vallarta's Day of the Dead celebration on the Malecon.

The Catrina Figure Officially Came in at 22.67 Meters

The figure was originally inspired by La Llorona in Xochimilco. More than 50 Mexican artists collaborate on the design and construction of the massive figure.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is now the official holder of the Guinness World Record for the largest constructed “La Catrina Figure”. Alondra Muca led more the 50 Mexican artists in the design and construction of the beautiful large figure that sits on the famous Puerto Vallarta malecón. The figure was the highlight of some amazing dia de los muertos celebrations.  “After collecting the pertinent and exact evidence, we are pleased to report that as of today, Puerto Vallarta is officially amazing,” said the Guinness World Records representative during the award ceremony.

The Guinness World Records representative , Alfredo Arista Rueda, José Arce Aréchiga, president of the College of Civil Engineers of the Jalisco Coast, and César Bernal Santana, teacher in evaluation, were present at the event. A team of measurement experts also joined the certification of this record. The result of the measurement showed that with 22.67 meters in height, this figure had broken the record previously set by the catrina of Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, in 2015.
