A Unique Vallarta Experience: Baby Turtle Releases

An amazing Vallarta experience for all ages!

Beginning every July and ending sometime just before the new year, Puerto Vallarta is home to a truly unique experience for people of all ages. Throughout the bay, several biologists and their volunteers are working to ensure the safety of this incredible species. The species of Sea Turtles that return to Vallarta’s shores every year are called the Olive Ridley turtle, named for their dark green color. Starting in June, you can see mothers return to the same beaches they were born on as they start to dig their nests and lay their eggs. It is important to note that beachgoers are encouraged to call “Patrulla Verde” or Green Patrol so the eggs can be taken to a facility to be monitored until they hatch.

Not only is this an excellent experience for all ages, but these conservation efforts by biologists are super important to the survival of the species and helps them continue to play their major role in the ecosystem of the ocean. If you would like to participate or learn more regarding turtle releases in Vallarta, we highly suggest  Campamento Tortuguero Boca de Tomates, a conservation effort located just North of Marina Vallarta.
